Biography

I am Sathees Duglas, currently enrolled as a postgraduate research student at the Department of Ocean Sciences Center, Memorial University of Newfoundland, where I am pursuing a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Aquaculture under the guidance of Dr. Javier Santander. My research focuses on the cellular immune response of Atlantic salmon primary macrophages and (ASK) cell line against Vibrio anguillarum infection. My fascination with the progression of aquaculture and its impact on food and environmental systems has been a driving force throughout my academic journey. I continued to pursue this passion through various avenues and eventually graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Agriculture from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Jaffna, achieving an outstanding academic first class. My interest in sustainable aquaculture deepened when I transitioned into a Marine and Brackishwater Fish Production Technology Lecturer at the Department of Biosystems Technology, Faculty of Technology, University of Jaffna. As a lifelong learner and researcher, I am committed to expanding the knowledge base in sustainable aquaculture. My areas of expertise include exploring innovative approaches to enhance sustainability and address challenges in aquaculture, such as innovative and green technology for the aquaculture industry, cleaner fish production, disease control, and the development of novel antibiofilm products.
