Biography

Ashok Kumar A, Principal Scientist, Sorghum breeding, Asia Regional Program, International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Patancheru, India. He has been working on the areas of integrated breeding for increased genetic gain in both self and cross pollinated crops for traits of global interest, for the past 17 years. He is handling several projects supported by national and international agencies on sorghum improvement for grain and stover yield, quality, grain Fe and Zn concentration, resistance to insects and diseases, abiotic stress tolerance, animal digestibility including the projects related to first generation (1G) and second generation (2G) biofuel feedstocks development and their use in commercial biofuel production. He has received several awards and fellowships for his contributions in the areas of crop improvement. Dr. Ashok Kumar has more than 120 publications to his credit which includes journal articles, book chapters and working series papers. Guiding five research scholars pursuing their Ph Ds.
