Biography

Monjurul Haq is a Bangladeshi academician and researcher affiliated with the Department of Fisheries and Marine Bioscience, Jashore University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh for the last 12 years. Currently Dr. Haq is working as an Associate Professor in the department and his work responsibilities include teaching the undergraduate, Master, and Doctoral students and research. He had graduated from the Faculty of Fisheries and Master from the department of Fisheries Technology (major in Fish Processing) of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh in 2006 and 2008, respectively. He completed Ph.D in Food Science and Technology, specialization on fish processing from the Department of Food Science and Technology of Pukyong National University, Republic of Korea in 2018.
Research interest includes processing and quality control of aquatic resources to utilize as food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics. During his doctoral research he was expertized with the supercritical CO2 and subcritical water hydrolysis techniques for the treatment of fishes and their by-products. He is equipped with the extraction and characterization of bioactive compounds such as ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, astaxanthin pigments, phospholipids, collagen, etc. from aquatic organisms. The major analytical methods include determination of proximate composition, amino acids, fatty acids, minerals, heavy metals, and other bioactives in fish and fishery products. Major of his research findings are published in 25 national and international reputed journals.
