Elza Ibrahim Auerkari, PhD is since 2005 the Professor of Oral Biology at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia. Her particular scientific interests span from molecular biology of oral disease, oral pathology, cancer, and other age-related diseases, to forensic science, and she has presented or published more than 300 papers in her fields of expertise. She currently serves as the Chairman of the Professor Board of the Faculty in the University of Indonesia, and Chairman of Research cluster of the University of Indonesia - Integrative Oral Pathology, Genetic and Epigenetic.
She is an active member of professional societies such as the Indonesian Dentists’ Association (PDGI), Indonesian Society for Forensic Odontology, Indonesian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist, the International Association for Dental Research, and Indo-Pacific Association of Law, Medicine and Science. Related to the forensic activities, she serves as the Chairman of Indonesian College board of Forensic Dentistry, established to promote and train professionals in the field of forensic dentistry and associated forensic science. She has experience as Editor/Editor-in-Chief of the Indonesian Journal of Dentistry, and as Deputy Editor-in- Chief of the Indonesian Journal of Legal and Forensic Sciences, Dental Journal of the Airlangga University and Syiah Kuala University. She holds DDS from the Faculty of Dentistry, M.Biomed from the Faculty of Medicine, and PhD from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Indonesia, Jakarta. Dr. Auerkari has been awarded e.g. Intelectual Properties and publication Award, and the Forensic Identification Award for her professional activities.
