Rosalva González Meléndez PhD, is a full time titular professor and Subdirector of Continuous Education of the Odontology Faculty of the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon, with 40 years of academic experience in teaching, in the Public Health and Epidemiology fields where 17 of them have been on field work in suburban communities of the Nuevo Leon state in Mexico, and also school communities, whe she was responsible for the orale health of more than 8400 elementary students, performing epidemiologic investigations on students of the Nuevo Leon state, also winning important projects for the University, sponsored by the Kellog Foundation, to give oral health as a new initiative in clinical dental assistance and the odontologic education in unprotected communities with the opening of more than 40 clinical campus through community dental modules.
Dr Gonzalez throughout her trajectory as leader of the Academic Body, although also in an individual manner, has directed pregaduate and posgraduate thesis and has participated in more than 50 investigation projects, which most have been published and others have been presented in national and international forums highlighting the one from Dr. Sabin for the application of the polio vaccine in aerosol. Her work has given her important recognitions by participating in the State Contest for Investigation, where she has obtained first and second place for several consecutive years.
Certified by the National Association of Dental Surgeons, she has stood out as a member of several Odontology Societies being part of its commissions like teaching certification and of Legislation.
With relevant responsabilities at state level like occupying the position of Head of Odontology in the Nuevo Leon state and national where the position of Academic Evaluator of Postgraduate Education Programs for the induction to the National Standard of Quality Postgraduate of CONACyT (National Council of Science and Technology) and being member of the Technical Council of CENEVAL (National Center for Evaluations) stand out.
Dr. G. Melendez has investigated for the past 12 years the development of compounds from medicinal plants of natural origin in regards to its antinflammatory, analgesic, antibiotic and anticancerigen effects against the treatment of several oral diseases to aleviate its symptoms through the mouth rinsing and take it to populations where they don`t have access,
while they wait to get a dental consultation.
Dr Gonzalez studied a Masters in Public Health as well as a Specialization in Social Odontology, with already having a professional and teaching trajectory, she got a scholarship again by the same University to study a Doctorate on Odontologic Investigation in the University of Granada Spain, where she finished Cum Laude in 2010.
