Biography

Marta Luigi, pHD, is a researcher in CREA, Consiglio per la Ricerca in Agricoltura ed Economia Agraria, in the plant Pathology Research Center. She had over 15 scientific papers and several participations in national and international conferences. She started working in 2006 after graduation with summa cum laude in Biotechnology at the University “La Sapienza” di Roma. She started working on olive tree viruses and viroids from fruits trees. During 2009-2012 she performed her PhD studying new diagnostic methods for viroid recognition, molecular characterizations and the interactions between hosts and pathogens. In this ten years working on plant protection she was involve in many national and internationals projects, and often she contributes to organization and performing ring test able to identify the best way to diagnose a plant pathogen. She collaborate also with a Canadian (University of Sherbrooke, Montreal) laboratory specialized in RNA research. In the last year she is the laboratory technician in the accredited laboratory DIALAB involved in identification of fungi, bacteria, viruses and viroids on plant material.
