Dr. George Aggelis is currently working as Associate Professor of Microbiology Head of the Unit of Microbiology Division of Genetics, Cell Biology & Development Department of Biology University of Patras, Greece. He received his Doctorate degree in Microbial Biochemistry from Universite des Sciences et Techniques du Languedoc, France in 1989. His area of interest related to Single Cell Oil, Microbial (yeast, fungal, algal) Lipids Biosynthesis and Biotechnology; Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids; Organic Acids; Degradation of Phenolics; Microbial Metabolism of Glycerol, Methanol, Fatty Acids; and Modeling. He is also serving as member of editorial board in number of journals. He is member of Greek Agro-technical Chamber; Franco-Hellenic Scientific and Technical Society; Greek Society of Biotechnology; Food Science and Technology Greek Society; Greek Forum for the Science and Technology of Lipids; Society of Chemical Industry – London, and Hellenic Society of MikroBioKosmos. He also worked on 25 research projects, 13 projects as Principal Investigator. He also participated in 10 meetings. He supervised 5 Post-doc Researchers, 8 PhD, 4 MSc and more than 40 BS students. He also participated in number of scientific and administrative committees. He has published (2) books, (4) book chapters, (7) review papers, (92) research papers, (1) patent, (37) participations in international conferences, (72) participations in national and international meetings, and (8) articles in Greek journals contributed as author/co-author.
