Henok Fikre was born on November 24, 1981, in Wolayta Zone, Sodo Zuria Woreda. Henok worked as a researcher at the Southern Agricultural Research Institute's Bonga Agricultural Research Center until he enrolled in post-graduate studies in 2016. He joined the school of plant and horticultural science at Hawassa University and graduated with an MSc degree in plant breeding in 2018.
