Professional Summary
Dr. V. N. Yogananda Murthy obtained his M.Sc. (1993) and M.Phil. (1996) degrees in Sericulture from Bangalore University, Karnataka, India. He earned his Ph.D. in Sericulture (Plant Breeding and Evaluation) from Bangalore University in 2003. He is currently serving as the Research Coordinator at Azyme Biosciences Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, India. Earlier, he served as Principal of Ganga Kaveri Institute of Science and Management, affiliated with Bangalore University, from 2002 to 2015, and as a Lecturer in Sericulture at KGF First Grade College from 1994 to 2000.
Dr. Murthy has served as an Examiner in Sericulture and Biotechnology for Bangalore University and has guided M.Phil. and Ph.D. scholars in diverse areas of sericulture and agricultural sciences. His scholarly contributions include one textbook, two edited books, seven book chapters, and 38 research papers published in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals. He has presented more than 70 research papers at national and international conferences and has chaired over ten scientific sessions. He also serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals.
With over 30 years of research experience, Dr. Murthy's research interests include plant breeding and genetics, germplasm evaluation, mulberry cultivation, silkworm biology and rearing technology, plant biochemistry, agricultural biotechnology, natural products, environmental science, toxicology, and pharmacological research. He is a Life Member of the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Kolkata, and the Applied and Natural Science Foundation (ANSF), Uttarakhand, and is a Fellow of the Applied and Natural Science Foundation (FANSF).
