Dr. Sentayehu Alamerew is currently working as Associate Professor in Genetics and Plant Breeding at Department of Horticulture and Plant Sciences, Jimma University College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Jimma, Ethiopia. He has completed his Ph.D. in Genetics and Plant Breeding from GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, India.
He has approximately 40 years of professional experience in teaching, research, postgraduate supervision, academic leadership, crop improvement, and agricultural research. I have extensive expertise in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Biotechnology, Agronomy, Genetic Resources, Crop Improvement, Experimental Design, and Statistical Analysis.
I have extensive experience in postgraduate education, including supervision and examination of MSc and PhD students, internal and external thesis examination, academic mentoring, curriculum development, academic quality assurance, research project development, research review, and professional consultancy.
I have supervised more than 100 MSc and 30 PhD students and have participated extensively in the examination of postgraduate theses at national and international universities. I have also evaluated academic staff for promotion, including professors and academic staff below the rank of professor.
I have published more than 136 peer-reviewed research articles in national and international journals and have contributed to scientific conferences, proceedings, technical reports, manuals, research reviews, research project development, and other professional and academic activities.
