Professional Summary

I hold a M.Sc, PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Universities of Oulu, and Helsinki, Finland. I subsequently undertook postdoctoral research training at the Medical Research Council (MRC), National Institute for Medical Research, Mill Hill, London, before moving to the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, for further academic and research development.

I am currently a Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics in the Department of Medical Biochemistry, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Abuja. I have extensive experience and demonstrated expertise in teaching and learning, research and innovation, and knowledge transfer and industry-academic partnerships. My academic and research activities encompass the development and implementation of high-quality teaching programmes, mentorship of students and early-career researchers, research leadership, and the translation of scientific discoveries into practical applications.

My research interests are focused on phytomedicine and its potential applications in disease prevention and management, with particular emphasis on the role of epigenetic modifications in disease susceptibility, progression, and propagation. Through this work, I seek to advance understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying disease and contribute to the development of evidence-based, affordable, and sustainable therapeutic strategies
