Biography

Dr. Jalil Ghalamghash is currently working as Assistant Professor in Research Institute of Earth Sciences of GSI, Senior Geologist in Geological Survey of Iran, and senior supervisor of Iranian Mining Engineer’s Organization (Part time). He has obtained his Ph.D. in Petrology from Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran. Previously he was appointed as Manager for Regional Geology (GSI), Senior Mapping and Exploration Geologist in GSI, and Geologist at Geological Survey of Iran (GSI), Tehran, Iran. His main area of research interest focuses on teaching Geology courses including Igneous Petrology, Geochronology, Study of young Volcanoes (history of volcanic activity, calderas, lava flow, volcanic domes, pyroclastic rocks), Origin and Tectonic setting of Intrusive rocks and ore deposits, Geological and exploration mapping and Geochronology of Igneous and Metamorphic Rocks. He has supervised 7 PhD thesis, and 21 master’s thesis. He has published 4 books, 37 research articles in journals, 21 map and reports and 21 conference presentation contributed as author/co-author.
