Muhammad Sarwar is a scholarly publishing leader with more than two decades of experience in scientific publishing, editorial management, research dissemination, and scholarly communication. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in strengthening publishing infrastructure, advancing publication ethics, and promoting greater visibility and accessibility of research across Asia and beyond.
He currently serves as Secretary & Treasurer of the Asian Council of Science Editors, where he contributes to initiatives to enhance editorial excellence, peer-review standards, research integrity, and professional development within the scholarly publishing community. Through his leadership, ACSE has expanded its role as a platform for collaboration among editors, publishers, reviewers, and researchers throughout the region.
Muhammad is also a Founding Member of Open Science Asia, a regional initiative dedicated to advancing open science, supporting responsible dissemination of research, and improving access to scholarly knowledge. His work focuses on developing sustainable publishing ecosystems that empower journals, institutions, and researchers to participate more effectively in global scholarly communication.
In addition, he leads IndexONE, a scholarly indexing and abstracting service designed to improve the discoverability, credibility, and international visibility of academic journals. Through this initiative, he has supported numerous established and emerging journals in strengthening their editorial practices and expanding their global reach.
Over the years, Muhammad has played a key role in developing scholarly publishing initiatives, journal management systems, indexing services, editorial training programs, and research communication platforms. His expertise spans editorial operations, publication ethics, journal evaluation, research integrity, digital publishing technologies, open-access publishing models, and scholarly infrastructure development.
Recognized for his commitment to advancing scholarly communication in developing regions, Muhammad continues to advocate for transparency, integrity, innovation, and inclusivity in academic publishing. His work is driven by a vision of creating stronger, more accessible, and more sustainable systems for the dissemination of scientific knowledge worldwide.
