Javed Ahmed Ujan

Dr. Javed Ahmed Ujan is an Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Zoology at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, Sindh, Pakistan. He holds a Ph.D. in Animal Genetics and Reproduction Sciences from Northwest A&F University, China, and completed a Fulbright Visiting Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Florida, USA, in 2023–2024. With more than 14 years of academic and research experience, he specializes in animal genetics, molecular biology, livestock genomics, and applied zoological sciences.

His research focuses on genomics-to-phenomics approaches for improving livestock productivity and feed efficiency, cattle genetics and breeding, meat quality, nutrigenomics, epigenetics, and precision livestock farming. His interdisciplinary research also encompasses fish toxicology, heavy-metal contamination, aquatic environmental health, and sustainable animal production. He established a Molecular Genetics Laboratory at SALU to strengthen molecular research, postgraduate training, and scientific capacity.

Dr. Ujan has authored 113 peer-reviewed research publications and has 40 HEC W-category publications, including 15 Q1-ranked papers. His cumulative W-category impact factor is 89.92. As of October 2026, his Google Scholar profile records 729 citations, an h-index of 13, and an i10-index of 24. He has supervised doctoral and MS/M.Phil. researchers and contributed to competitive research projects, international scientific collaboration, and postgraduate education.

His professional distinctions include the Young Scientist Award from the International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS), an Australian innovation patent, and institutional awards recognizing research and teaching excellence. As a Fulbright alumnus with international academic experience in China and the United States, he is committed to advancing collaborative research, molecular and genomic innovation, and evidence-based solutions for sustainable livestock production and environmental health.
