Biography

Dr. Umer Rashid holds a position of Fellow Researcher and Associate Professor at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia. He earned his PhD in Chemistry from Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan/United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Peoria, IL, USA and Post-Doctorate from Chemical Engineering Department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. Previously he was appointed as Science Teacher at City Cadet Schools, Faisalabad, Pakistan, and Visiting Researcher at Attock Refinery Limited (ARL), Rawalpindi, Pakistan, Visiting Scientist at United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), USA, Visiting Lecturer and Assistant Professor at Government College University, Faisalabad, Pakistan, and Visiting Professor at King Saud University (KSU), Saudi Arabia. Dr. Umer has 140 publications in journals contributed as author/co-author. He has completed 2 research projects as project leader and co-researcher. He has supervised 5 MSc thesis, and co-supervised 1 PhD thesis. Currently he is supervising 4 PhD thesis. He also attended number of conferences, workshop and performed presentations. Dr. Umer received honors includes selected as an External Evaluator for YUTP-FRG Project, Most Cited Articles Published since 2007 in FUEL, Awarded Certificate of Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing, Silver Medal on Solvothermal Technology for Biodiesel Production, Gold Medal on Bio fuel from Agricultural Waste through a Process of Catalytic Conversion, Gold Medal on Bio-Gasoline from Malaysian Agricultural Waste via Catalytic Conversion Process (BIOGAX), and many others. He is also serving as Editor of International Journal of Chemical and Biological Sciences, regional Editor of Pakistan Journal of Life and Social Sciences (PJLSS), member of editorial board in of Global Journal of Analytical Chemistry and Journal of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and reviewer for International Journals such as Bioresource Technology, Biomass and Bioenergy, Fuel, Applied Energy, Energy & Fuel, International Journal of Sustainable Energy, Journal of American Oil Chemist’s Society, Journal of Chemical Society of Pakistan, Science Alert Journals. Dr. Umer is professional member of American Oil Chemists Society (AOCS), US, The Chemical Society of Pakistan, American Society for Testing and Materials, Institute of Food Technologists, National Academy of Young Scientists, International Scientific Organization (ISO), Pak and Senior Member of Asia-Pacific Chemical, Biological & Environmental Engineering Society. His research has been on the characterization of Vegetable Oils and Vegetable Oilderived Diesel Fuels (biodiesel), using technique such as GLC, FTIR and NMR.
