Biography

Dr. Imran Malik is assistant professor at HEJ research institute of chemistry (International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences) (ICCBS), University of Karachi since 2012. Dr Malik completed his PhD from Karl-Franzens University, Graz, Austria in 2009. He served as “Postdoctoral Research Scientist” at Stellenbosch University, South Africa (2011-2012) and Pohang University of Science and Technology, Korea (2015). Dr Malik won several scholarships and bursaries that include HEC overseas scholarship for PhD (2005), Claude Leon Foundation postdoctoral fellowship, South Africa (2011). He was selected to represent Pakistan in TWAS young scientist meeting at Bangalore, India (2014). University of Karachi has awarded Dr Malik with “Nishan-e-Zafar” for meritorious services for teaching and research in 2014. He is member of various professional societies such as chemical society of Pakistan, The polymer society of Korea etc. He serve as reviewer of various high impact journals that include journal of chromatography A, Polymer Chemistry, Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics, Journal of Chemical Society of Pakistan etc. His major research focus is characterization of complex polymers. The synthesis of various fascinating structure such as blocks, grafts, stars, dendrimers etc., microwave-assisted polymerizations, multi-dimensional characterization of complex polymers and development of structure-property correlations are the other research areas of interest. Currently, he is establishing research group of analytical polymer science at ICCBS, University of Karachi. Dr Malik have published more than 25 articles in prestigious journal of his research area with cumulative impact factor of more than 150, exceeding 300 citations and h-index of 13 and i10 index of 16. His recent review articles are published in most prestigious journal of the research area, Progress in Polymer Science (5 year impact factor: 34.00, 2014 impact factor: 26.383) are “Novel Developments in Multidimensional Characterization of Segmented Polymers” (2014) and “Field Flow Fractionation: New and Exciting Perspectives in Polymer Analysis” (2016). Recently, Dr. Malik has published a book entitled “Advanced Separation Techniques for Polyolefins” by Springer, Germany.
