Dr. Mohamed Essa Mohamed Musthafa holds a position Assistant Professor at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. He has completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, India. He has supervised 2 PhD, 5 MSc, and 25 BSc final years’ students, 2 post doctorate, and 2 consultants. He is editor in chief for International Journal of Nutrition, Pharmacology, and Neurological Diseases, and academic editor for British Journal of Medicine and Medical Research, UK. He conducts research in pharmacological approaches of natural products against neurological diseases by using various available models. He has published 90 refereed journal papers, 21 conference abstracts in journals, 4 books, 31 book chapters, 41 refereed and non refereed conference papers, 2 thesis and 8 articles in news papers. His main area of expertise includes Nutritional Neuropharmacology, Behavior, and Biochemical Status in Various Neurodegenerative Disease Conditions, Traumatic Brain Injury and Other Neurological Diseases. Dr. Mohamed-Essa has completed 13 research projects as principal investigator and co-investigator. He is also serving as reviewer and editor for number of journals. He is member of International Society for Neurochemistry, International Society for Tryptophan Research (ISTRY), Neurotoxicity Society, New York Academy of Sciences, American Society for Nutrition, International Society for Autism Research, International Society of Computational Biology, Society of Biological Chemists, Biochemical Society, life member of Indian Chronobiology Society, and fellow of The Linnean Society of London, UK, Bioinformatics Institute of India, and Indian Chemical Society. He is the recipient of many awards and Dr. Mohamed-Essa was appointed as a Visiting Scientist in the department of Pharmacology, University of New South Wales (until 2014), Sydney, Australia. He has a strong academic and research background based on his work experiences in USA, Malaysia, India and Oman. Recently he was appointed as Visiting Fellow in the Advanced School of Medicine, Maquarie University, New South Wales, Australia.
