Biography

Dr. Varughese George is currently Director, Amity Institute of Phytochemistry and Phytomedicine, Peroorkada, Kerala, India. Earlier he was Scientist and Head of Phytochemistry and Phytopharmacology Division of Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute at same university. He started his research career at CSIR Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu/Srinagar where he occupied the position of Senior Scientist. Dr. George has a PhD in Phytochemistry and is a Fellow of several Learned Societies including The Royal Society of Chemistry. He is a research guide in several Indian Universities, reviewer for several reputed journals, author and editor of books on natural products, ethnopharmacology, traditional medicine and traditional knowledge. He has more than 300 publications, 35 patents and 56 contributed chapters in books. Dr George has been an invited/key-note speaker / chair of a large number of Seminars and Conferences in India and abroad.
