Dr. Mohammad Omar Farooq is currently working as Associate Professor at Department of Economics and Finance, College of Business Administration, University of Bahrain. He has completed his PhD from University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA in 1988, and Post Doctorate in Sustainable Development and Appropriate Technology from University of California, USA. Previously he was appointed as Dean at Faculty of Business and Financial Sciences, Royal University for Women, Bahrain, Head of Centre for Islamic Finance, BIBF, Head of Centre for Research, Coordinator, Quality Assurance and Accreditation Review and QQA Visit, Associate Professor of Economics and Finance at Upper Iowa University, Fayette, Iowa, Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Assistant Professor of Economics at Western Illinois University, Macomb, Illinois, and Adjunct part-time faculty of Economics, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee. He is also supervising graduate thesis as well as undergraduate internships and special projects in the field of Economics, Finance and Islamic Banking/Finance. He is also serving as Chair of College Quality Assurance and Accreditation Committee, College of Business Administration, UoB, external member of Rating Committee, International Islamic Rating Agency, Bahrain. He has published 1 book, 8 chapters in books, and 22 research articles in journals contributed as author/co-author. Dr. Omar received honors includes Who’s Who among America’s Teachers, Ciriacy Wantrup Post Doctoral Research Fellow, Energy & Resources Group from University of California, Berkeley, President’s Fellowship, and Crenshaw Leadership Award from Center for International Education, UTK. He is also acting as member of editorial board and reviewer for journals such as International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance, International Journal of Excellence in Islamic Banking and Finance, Journal of Islamic Financial Studies, International Journal of Social Economics, Journal of Contemporary Business Issues, Journal of Developing Areas, KAU International Journal of Islamic Economics, and founding moderator and Review of Islam and Economics/Finance.
