Professional Summary
Professor Hai-Han Lu earned his PhD in Electro-Optical Engineering from the Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering, National Central University, Taiwan, in 2000. Prof. Lu has an important record of university managing and activity. He has been the Chair of the Department of Electro-Optical Engineering at the National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT) (2005-2008) and Vice-President of Tung-Nan University (2011-2013). He was appointed Distinguished Professor (2006-2012) and Life Distinguished Professor (2013-present) of NTUT.
Professor Hai-Han Lu's illustrious career is marked by numerous accolades and contributions. His recent awards include Outstanding Research Award from the National Science and Technology Council of Taiwan (2025), Yuan-Ze Technology Paper Award – Optoelectronics Category (2025), OPTICA (OSA) Fellow (2024), SPIE Fellow (2014), IET Fellow (2009), Life Distinguished Professor (from February 2017), ScholarGPS Top 0.5% of all scholars worldwide (Top Scholar – Lifetime, #75 (2024) and #73 (2023) in Transport Systems), World’s Top 2% Scientists for Long-Career (1960-2024) and Single-Year (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024), RunSpace Innovation Challenge Winning Team Guidance Award (2024 and 2025), Excellent Industry-Academia Collaboration Award from Qualcomm Technologies. Inc. In editorial roles, Professor Lu has served as Associate Editor of IEEE/Optica Journal of Lightwave Technology (from January 2025), Guest Editor of Discover Internet of Things (Springer Nature) (from January 2026), Associate Editor of IEEE Photonics Journal (2017–2020), Associate Editor of SPIE Optical Engineering (2012–present), and Guest Editor of Photonics (2020–2021). Professor Lu actively contributes to the academic and professional community. He has been involved in various capacities, including Publication Chair, Conference Chair, Track Chair, Technical Program Committee (TPC) member, Steering Committee member, and Invited Speaker at prominent international conferences, such as MWP (2026), OECC (2026 and 2020), IPC (2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020), WOCC (2024, 2021, 2018), OFC (2018), and CLEO-PR (2018).
