Falana Babatunde Michael is an agricultural scientist, sustainability researcher, and agricultural extension professional with a strong interest in advancing sustainable food production, resource efficiency, and evidence-based agricultural development.
He holds a First-Class Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Sciences (Animal Science) from Landmark University, where he developed a foundation in animal production, agricultural research, and sustainable farming systems. He subsequently earned a First-Class Master of Science degree in Animal Production from the same institution, graduating as the overall best student in his programme with a CGPA of 4.96/5.00. Both degrees were supported by the David Oyedepo Foundation Scholarship. He later completed a Master of Science in Life Sciences at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia, under the High International Scholarship.
His research experience spans agricultural sustainability, circular agriculture, waste management, composting systems, aquaculture, and environmental assessment. His master’s research at KFUPM focused on the life cycle assessment of aerobic composting systems, examining how organic waste can be managed more sustainably while reducing environmental impacts. He has contributed to peer-reviewed research and developed expertise in life cycle assessment, agricultural research, and the application of scientific evidence to practical environmental challenges.
Babatunde has also worked in academia as a Research Assistant and Assistant Lecturer at Landmark University, where he taught animal nutrition and related agricultural subjects, supervised graduate students, and coordinated practical training for large student cohorts. His experience has strengthened his ability to communicate scientific knowledge, mentor others, and collaborate across disciplines.
He currently serves as Team Lead, Agricultural Extension and Field Research Office, at DavidOrlah Nigeria Limited. In this role, he leads efforts to connect field research with agricultural intelligence, strengthen evidence-based extension services, and support initiatives that improve farm productivity, profitability, resilience, and sustainability.
His broader interests include sustainable agriculture, climate-smart farming, circular economy, agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, waste valorization, and the development of practical solutions that benefit farmers and the environment.
