Prof. Alexander Iheanyichukwu Opara is a Professor of Geophysics in the Department of Geology, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria and currently the Head, Department of Geology, Federal University of Technology Owerri. His research works covers various areas which includes remote sensing/GIS application in spatio-temporal studies, meteorology/atmospheric pollution, Erosion and vulnerability assessment, land use /land cover change detection, basin analysis/reservoir characterization, overpressure studies/basin modelling, rock physics, geothermal studies, etc. His current research interest includes multi-disciplinary studies of the environment (Water, Air & Soil). Prof. A. I. Opara is highly proficient in the interpretation of Potential field data and other software used in the oil and gas industry such as; Logic, Vel2pre, SipMap, etc. He is a registered member of Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS), Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG), Society of Exploration Geophysicist (SEG), Nigerian Association of Hydro Geologist (NAH) and Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE). Prof. Opara has published extensively in both local and international Journals.
