Biography

Dr. Eyyad A. Al-Khalaileh is currently working as Assistant Professor at Canadian University-Dubai, School of Architecture and Interior Design (SAID). He has completed his PhD in Community and Environmental Design from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC in 2004. He also obtained a Master of Architecture, a Master of Community and Regional Planning, and a Bachelor of Art in Architecture from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, USA. Prior to joining CUD, he was an Assistant Professor at UAE University, Al Ain, UAE, and an Adjunct Instructor at Meredith College, Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. He has also worked as a Capacity Builder and Trainer for clients including Abu Dhabi Municipal Affairs Department. Dr. Al Khalaileh has extensive industry experience including Client Director and Project Director positions with WS Atkins Middle East & India, Advisory and Director roles with various Government departments in Abu Dhabi, and a number of Architectural Design and Design Consultant positions with a range of public and private sector organizations. Dr. Al Khalaileh’s research interests are in urban design history and development of cities, urban housing, children’s environments, environment, behavior studies concerning human use of public outdoor spaces, urban regeneration, community design, social impact of architecture typology on growth and development in MENA, architectural design, natural systems and site design, place and place making, and growing up in cities (GUIC). He has 15 publications in journals.
