Biography

Dr. Anil C Mathew, Associate Professor of Biostatistics, PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore 641004, South India. Dr. Anil C Mathew is Professor of Biostatistics at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. He got his training in Biostatistics from Christian Medical College, Vellore (M.Sc. Biostatistics) and Doctorate in Biostatistics from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. He joined the All India Heart Foundation, New Delhi as Assistant Statistician in 1988 and afterwards as Assistant Professor (1989) in PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore, Associate Professor (2003) and Professor (2008). He is Adjunct Faculty at the Department of Medical Education, PSGIMSR.

His major activities involve teaching of Biostatistics and Clinical epidemiology to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, as a guide for M.Sc. (Biostatistics) students, consultant for MD/MS students, carrying out independent/collaborative epidemiological research projects, delivering guest/invited lectures, external examiner for Ph.D, and post-graduate students, member of selection committees and reviewer/member of editorial committee of various national and international journals. Dr. Anil C Mathew received WHO scholarship to attend International Epidemiological Association South East Asia Regional Meeting at Dhaka, Bangladesh, 2008. He was the Organizing Secretary of the 24th Annual National Conference of Indian Society for Medical Statistics, December 1-3, 2006. He has contributed more than 30 original articles in various national and international journals.

He is a member of International Biometric Society, Life member of Indian Society for Medical Statistics, Indian Association for study of Population and Kerala Statistical Association. In 1997, he received Suraj Kali Jain Award from the Indian Society for Medical Statistics for the best published paper in Medical Statistics. His areas of major research interest include epidemiology of non-communicable diseases. He has collaborated with Dr. Yunsheng Ma, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Preventive and Behavioral Medicine, University of Massachusetts Medical School, USA and published several papers in the indexed medical journals.

Besides, he also specialized in Clinical trial design in 2008 and Chief statistics consultant at Inter Ed Faculty for Clinical Research (IFCR), a Canadian accredited training centre in Clinical Research and Clinical Data Management. He has been selected and attended the INDO US workshop in Clinical Research in 2007 and 2008.
