Biography

Dr. S.S.J. Ignacimuthu holds a position of Director at Entomology Research Institute, Loyola. He has completed his Ph.D. in Genetics from University of Delhi, Delhi, India. He has a diverse academic and professional background. Previously he was appointed as Vice Chancellor at University of Madras, Chennai, Vice Chancellor at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Principal at Loyola College, Chennai, Assistant Director at Entomology Research Institute, Loyola College, Chennai, Principal at St. Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai, and Vice-Principal & Lecturer, and Reader at St. Joseph’s College, Trichy. He also served as Visiting Scientist at various institutes such as Department of Genetics, University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, National Institute of Basic Biology, Okazaki, Japan, Institute of Plant Sciences, ETH Zentrum, Zurich, Switzerland, Applied Entomology, ETH Zentrum, Zurich, Switzerland, Department of Entomology, University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA and Post Doctoral Research at Department of Cell Biology, University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. He is member of editorial board in Indian Journal of Experimental Biology, New Delhi, International Journal of Plant Cell Biotechnology and Molecular Biology, Wealth of India, CSIR, New, and Editorial Committee, Revival Journals of University of Madras. He is also serving as Referee for Scientific Articles, National and International Journals. Dr. Ignacimuthu received honors includes Best Book Award given by Tamil Nadu Government for the book on Environmental Awareness and Pollution Control, Tamil Nadu Scientists Award (TANSA) given by Tamil Nadu Government for Life Sciences, CEED Best Educationist Award, awarded, 20th Century Award for Achievement by International Biographical Institute Cambridge, England, Marquis Who’s Who in the World, 19th edition 2002 published from New Providence, USA and many others. He is member /fellow of more than 25 societies and association. He participated in more than 75 national and international seminars and conferences. He has guided more than 20 M.Phil candidates and more than 28 Ph.D. candidates. He has completed 35 funded research projects. Dr. Ignacimuthu has published 24 books, 12 chapters in books, 14 edited books, 21 general books, and more than 488 research articles in journals and 57 articles in proceeding/seminars contributed as author/co-author.
