Biography

I am Viralkumar B. Mandaliya belongs to Saurashtra region of Gujarat State. I have specialized in biotechnology emphasized on the area of molecular biology. In my doctoral thesis entitled “Molecular and Biochemical studies on genus Gossypium”, I have selected Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) and genic male sterility (GMS) line of Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) to understand nuclear and cytoplasm interactions. MS line has great importance in plant breeding for hybrid production. During doctoral work, I have optimized DNA and RNA extraction protocol, PCR technique optimized employing PCR enhancer to save time and cost, molecular markers were studied to encase male sterility, marker based nucleotide sequences (68 sequences) submitted at NCBI. Other than my doctoral work I have worked on tissue culture, molecular and bioinformatics aspects. I have completed one year COP in plant tissue culture and worked on several medicinal plants. I have worked and submitted Barcode sequence of 21 medicinal plants. I have developed Neem Database which covers plant importance and its importance compounds. Currently, working at ICAR-DGR, Junagadh as RA in IPR Project of ICAR Network and pursuing IPR related courses viz. PGDIPR from IGNOU, and DL-201 (Copyright and Related Rights) and DL-202 (E-commerce and IP) from WIPO, Geneva. Here I am working on IP related issues in plant variety registration and technology transfer. I have published about eight research paper national/international peer reviewed journals and engaged in review/editing of several peer reviewed journals.
