Biography

Dr. Akm Saiful Islam grew up in Bangladesh. He completed his Graduation in Civil Engineering and Post-Graduation in Water Resource Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He received his PhD degree in Civil Engineering from Drexel University. Currently, he is working as Professor at BUET. His prior working experience includes Research Assistant at Drexel University, Lecturer, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at BUET. He published 44 articles in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, 13 case reports and also edited 2 books. In the past he is involved in various national and international collaborative research projects and provided advisory services related to Hydrology and Climate Change issues at the Institute of Water and Flood Management and currently involved in 2 projects naming “High End Climate Impact and Extremes” and “Designing Flash Flood Early Warning System (FFEWS) Sub component for Haor Region of North Eastern Bangladesh”. He possesses membership of Institute of Engineers. Dr. Saiful Islam also attended number of training workshops and short courses.
