Biography

Dr. Mohd Fairuz Shahidan is currently working as Senior Lecturer at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Department of Landscape Architecture. He has completed his Ph.D. in Architecture from Cardiff University, Cardiff, UK. His main research interests lie in the exploration of the potential impacts of vegetation and ground surface materials in mitigating urban heat island effect especially in tropical climate, the interest might focus on the interactions of microclimate variables towards urban environment especially solar and terrestrial radiations, air temperature, relative and absolute humidity and wind speed, he is also interested in the study of thermoscape that offer a significant impact towards outdoor thermal comfort and building energy performances in the delivery sustainable development. He has published 12 research articles in journals as well as 10 conference proceeding and 5 other publications contributed as author/co-author. He is also serving as member of editorial board and reviewer for many journals. He has supervised/co-supervised 11 bachelor students, 7 masters’ students and 4 PhD students.
