Biography

Dr. Hooi Hooi Lean holds a position of Professor at School of Social Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She obtained her PhD from Department of Economics, National University of Singapore. She served as a Post-Doctoral Visiting Scholar to the Department of Economics, Monash University, Australia. She has been a Visiting Scholar at SungKyunKwan University (Korea), Tamkang University (Taiwan), CEREFIGE Universite Nancy 2 (France), Auckland University of Technology (New Zealand), Georg-Simon-Ohm University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and University of Rennes2 (France). Dr. Hooi received honors includes National Academic Award, Sanggar Sanjung Award for Excellent Publication Universiti Sains Malaysia, Best Paper Award by National Symposium & Exhibition on Business & Accounting, Who’sWho in Asia, Marquis USA, Excellent Service Award, Universiti Sains Malaysia and many others. Her main area of researcher interest focuses on Financial Economics, Energy and Environmental Economics, Asia-Pacific and Chinese Economics, and Applied Statistics and Econometrics. She has published 14 chapters in books, 104 research articles in journals, and 80 conference papers contributed as author/co-author. She also completed 18 research grants as principal researcher and co-researcher. She also delivered number of invited presentations. She is also serving as member of editorial board and reviewer for number of national and international journals. Dr. Hooi is a member of various professional bodies such as life member of Malaysian Economic Association, Malaysian Finance Association, Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society and member of American Finance Association, Asian Academy of Management, East Asia Economic Association, Emerald Literati Network, UK, Economic Society of Singapore, Hong Kong Economic Association, Global Development Network Global Association of Risk Professionals, associate member of Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World, and senior member of International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology, Singapore. She has supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate thesis.
