Biography

Dr. Luc Hens is currently working as Advisor Scientific Publications VITO, and Chair Human Ecology Department of Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He has completed his PhD in Faculty of Sciences from same University. His main area of interest focuses on environmental health, interdisciplinary instruments for environmental management (including environmental impact assessment, environmental management, health impact assessment), and sustainable development (including climate changes, applied to health and spatial organisation). Previously he was served as Lecturer and Professor at variouse University. He is member of Dutch Society for Medical Environmental Sciences, German Society for Human Ecology, vice president at Society for Human Ecology, International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering, European Centre on Sustainable Policies for Human and Environmental Rights. He is member of editorial board in number of journals. Dr. Luc received honors includes First prize of the scientific travel grant contest, Prize of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Belgium, full member of the International Commission of Human Ecology (Commission of Human Ecology of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences), and Merit Award from the President of the Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology, Hanoi. Dr. Luc has published 132 research articles in journals, 131 conference papers, 71 papers in Belgian and Dutch journals, 50 Books with international distribution, and 41 chapters in books with international distribution contributed as author/co-author. He also reviewed 124 books. In addition Dr. Luc also promoted more than 175 masters students and 7 PhD students. He has completed 125 research projects. He also attended number of conferences. He is also serving as member of various societal and expert councils.
